Prefer to do it without an app?

Your Mac can already pull the audio out of one video: QuickTime Player, File, Export As, Audio Only. It writes an .m4a and that is the whole trick. How does the license work?

You pay once and keep it. No renewals, no subscriptions. Your license activates on the number of Macs you bought it for, and you can move it to another Mac whenever you want.

I bought Picmal and now I need more Macs. Can I upgrade?

Yes, and you only pay the difference. Going from 1 Mac to 2 is $10, 2 to 5 is $50, 5 to 10 is $60, and every other jump works the same way. Enter your license key here and the same key covers more Macs. The offer never expires, so starting small is never the wrong call.

What happens if I get a new Mac?

Open Picmal on your old Mac, go to Picmal → Register license to deactivate, then activate on the new one. Takes about ten seconds.

How do I extract audio from a video on my Mac?

Drop the video into Picmal, pick an audio format like MP3 or M4A as the output, and click Convert. Picmal keeps the audio track and drops the video, saving just the sound as a new file. It all runs on your Mac.

What formats can I save the audio as?

MP3 and M4A/AAC for everyday use, WAV or AIFF for uncompressed audio, and FLAC or ALAC when you want lossless. You can also target Opus for the smallest speech files or M4B for audiobooks.

Does it work with iPhone videos and .mov files?

Yes. Drop in .mov clips from your iPhone, or MP4, MKV, WebM, AVI and more. Picmal reads the video and writes out the audio track in whatever format you choose.

Can I pull the audio from a YouTube video?
