Terms of use
Last updated: September 8, 2025
These are the terms for using Picmal. I'm Alberto from Cantimplora Studio, LLC, and I built Picmal to be the image converter I wanted to use myself. By using Picmal, you're agreeing to these terms. They're pretty straightforward—I promise.
What Picmal is
Picmal is a Mac app that converts images between different formats. Everything happens on your computer. Your images never leave your Mac, and I never see them. It's that simple.
What you can do with Picmal
When you buy Picmal, you can:
- Install it on one Mac at a time (you can transfer between devices)
- Use it for personal stuff or work—whatever you need
- Convert as many images as you want, forever
- Get all future updates for free
Starting from version 1.1.3, you'll need to activate your license within the app using your license key.
What you can't do
Please don't:
- Try to reverse-engineer or crack the app
- Share your license with others or resell it
- Remove any copyright notices
- Use Picmal for anything illegal
Your privacy
This is important: Picmal never uploads your images anywhere. Everything happens on your Mac. I don't see your images, I don't track what you convert, and I don't collect any personal data from the app.
The website (picmal.app) uses Ahrefs Webmaster Tools to see visitor counts—that's separate from the app and doesn't affect your privacy at all.
Check out the Privacy Policy if you want more details.
Payment and licensing
Picmal is purchased as a one-time license through Lemon Squeezy, our payment processor. When you buy Picmal:
- Lemon Squeezy handles all payment processing securely
- Your payment information goes to Lemon Squeezy, not to me
- You receive a license key to activate the app
- Each license allows installation on one Mac at a time
- You can transfer your license to a different Mac by deactivating it first
If you don't like it
I don't offer a traditional free trial, but here's my deal: Try Picmal for 14 days. If you don't like it, just email me and I'll refund you. No questions asked.
To get a refund:
- Email me at support@picmal.app
- Include your order number
- I'll refund you within a few days
The refund goes back to whatever payment method you used. Once refunded, you'll need to uninstall Picmal.
I trust you not to abuse this. If someone repeatedly buys and refunds, I might have to say no.
Affiliate program
Picmal has an affiliate program where you can earn a commission by referring customers. If you participate:
- You earn 25% commission on each sale from your referrals
- The program is managed through Lemon Squeezy
- You must follow ethical marketing practices
- Don't misrepresent Picmal or make false claims
- I can terminate affiliate accounts for policy violations
Learn more about the affiliate program at picmal.app/affiliate.
Updates and support
- Updates are free forever. When I add new features or fix bugs, you get them automatically
- I'll keep Picmal working with new macOS versions
- If you need help, email me at support@picmal.app. I'll do my best to help
- I plan to keep improving Picmal for years, but I can't promise updates forever
Who owns what
- I own Picmal (the app itself)
- You own all your images—converting them doesn't change that
- "Picmal" is my trademark
The legal stuff I have to say
Picmal is provided "as is." I've built it to be reliable and I use it myself every day, but I can't guarantee it will work perfectly for every situation.
If something goes wrong, my liability is limited to what you paid for Picmal. I can't be responsible for lost data or other damages—so please keep backups of important images.
Basically: I'll do my best to make Picmal great, but use it at your own risk.
Ending things
- You can stop using Picmal anytime—just uninstall it
- I can revoke your license if you break these terms (like trying to crack the app)
- If either happens, you need to stop using Picmal and delete it
Where the legal stuff happens
These terms are governed by Wyoming law (that's where my LLC is registered). If we ever have a dispute (I hope we don't!), it would be handled in Wyoming.
If I need to update these terms
I might update these terms occasionally. If I do, I'll post the new version on the website. Using Picmal after changes means you accept the new terms.
