"It's a Mac-assed Mac App. Focused, customizable, flexible, well designed and super fast. 10+ times a day I need to convert a file for use on a website. Picmal makes that process a joy . My favorite conversion is taking a multipage PDF and converting each page to an individual image with one click (something even Preview can't do). "

" I love the app! I use it 4-5 days a week for audio and image conversion as I tag and add missing album artwork to my library of 70,000 songs. After that is done, I would like to try it out with my Blu-ray collection on Plex. I truly appreciate the hard work that goes into creating and frequently updating an app such as this. All the best!"

How do I resize an image on my Mac?

Drop the image into Picmal, choose a resize mode like Percentage or Fixed Width, type your value, and click Convert. Picmal writes out the resized image as a new file. It all runs on your Mac.

Can I resize a whole folder of images at once?

Yes. Drag in dozens of images or an entire folder and Picmal resizes all of them in one pass with the same settings, each saved as its own file. That's the part Preview can't do.

Can I resize an image to a specific file size?

Yes. Pick the Max File Size mode, type a target like 500 KB or 2 MB, and Picmal scales the image down until it fits under that budget. Great for upload limits and email attachments.

Can I resize by exact dimensions or by percentage?

Both. Picmal has six modes: Percentage, Fixed Width, Fixed Height, Max Dimensions, Exact Dimensions, and Max File Size. Set a hard width and height, cap the longest side, or scale everything by a percentage.

Does resizing an image lose quality?

Making an image smaller keeps things sharp, you're just discarding pixels you didn't need. Blowing a small image up past its native size is where quality drops, since there's no extra detail to invent. You can also set DPI when the output needs a specific resolution.

Does Picmal keep the aspect ratio?

Yes, by default. Percentage, Fixed Width, Fixed Height and Max Dimensions all keep the original proportions so nothing looks stretched. Use Exact Dimensions when you deliberately want a precise width and height.

Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything happens locally on your Mac. No uploads, no per-file limits, nothing leaves your machine. It's a one-time $15.99, not a subscription.
